Here we are! This is it! Last email! Home Friday!

Happy!  My albino Ugandan!

Wow..... I can't believe the time has actually come....... It literally feels like a dream right now and I don't know what is going on exactly, but the time has come.............

It was an awesome week to finish off these last two years of great experiences! This week was great! We met an awesome Congolese family and they are awesome and so prepared for the gospel! Very humble. Also we were calling people in the morning to set some programs and we got a call from an investigator that has been hesitant to be baptized and she told us she wants to be baptized!!!!!!!! and that we should prepare for it in the next two weeks! Wow...... That was a miracle for sure! It is amazing how the Lord works!

Elder Beck and Grant Day 1 of mission
at South African MTC

Last week of mission Elder Beck and Grant back together
with this cute family!
(full circle baby!)

Also this Sunday was amazing! It was a missionary Sunday and I had a talk and a testimony to give. Also to sing in the choir! It was one of the most spirit filled Sacrament meetings I have ever had. The theme was 2 Nephi 25:26. It was all about Christ! As we sang "I Believe in Christ" , even though we didn't sound the best, it felt like we were angels proclaiming that we believe in Christ! Also as I was about to give my talk and my testimony I had an overwhelming feeling as I looked at everyone in the congregation.......
That this is true! There is no doubt about it! This is the truth!! We are in the right place! This is the work of God! It was a sweet moment and a very nice way to finish up my last Sunday in Uganda......

The time has come and I am going to miss Uganda and Rwanda....... These places are truly some of the greatest places on this earth.................. The people are some of the greatest people I have ever met.................... God's hand is here in Uganda and Rwanda and with this mission........... It will be sad to leave, but I am also excited to see the family and friends back home and do my best to continue to do what the Lord wants me to do!

I know that God Lives! Jesus Christ is His Son! The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is his church! Missionary work is divine! The Lord's hand is in this work! Eternal Life is possible through the principles and ordinances of the gospel! We have great reason to rejoice! I will see you soon!

2 Timothy 4:6-8
(mom note.... I just read this.... paraphrasing....it is time of my departure, I have fought a good fight, i have finished my course, I have kept the faith.... blessings for all who do the Lord's work. Classy son. Classy.  I like!)

Love you. see you soon. thanks for everything you have done to help and support me these last two years. From the prayers, to the emails, to the packages, to the advice, and everything!

Final Mom questions....
1.  Hey, just thinking about food that you maybe haven't had for a while. Not really sure what you've eaten besides posho and beans.  Any of this sound good? Chicken enchiladas, lasagna, steak and mashed potatoes and gravy, roast beef, cinnamon rolls, tacos, spaghetti, peanut butter and jelly, cookies ??? What have you missed and what sounds good? Going shopping. Let me know

Ya All of that sounds good. I am not sure what to choose.... Chicken Enchiladas,,,,,,..... Steak and Potatoes for sure! and everythign you mentioned sounds great to me! hahaha. Let us jsut say I have come to not be a picky eater. hahaha

2. What is the best thing that you've eaten on your mission? Worst? Strangest?

The best thing I have eaten on mission..............is probably the time we went to Nanjing's It is a japanese restaurant..............

The worst is probably kidney and also mukene (silver fish). Also a pile of sweet potatoes with no water............

The strangest was maybe a piece of cow head..............

3. Women's broadcast was excellent. do the ladies in Uganda get to watch it recorded later? How does that work for them?

They don't watch the women's session until they get all of the sessions. So they usually watch when the men watch the priesthood session, but I am stoked to watch general conference! It is awesome!

4.  What is the hardest lesson you've learn from your mission?

The hardest lesson I have learned on my mission is that IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU>>>.................... No matter how much it sucks or you don't want to do something or it doesn't seem fair you always remember that it is not about YOU..................

5. Any experiences this past week stand out as being guided by the spirit or something that touched your heart?

I was sitting up front at the beginning of Sacrament meeting and thinking about my talk and praying for the spirit to help me testify of Christ to these people and will I was thinking I had this overwhelming feeling as I looked at the people  and it told me that "This is True..... This is the Truth......." The church and the gospel are true. This work is true. It was awesome. The sacrament meeting was full of the spirit and my last sunday was one of my favorite!

6.  Is there anything else we need to know before you come home?

I don't think there is anything else you need to know before I get home. Just don't forget that I am coming home .hahaha

TIME....... one more email and I head home

Happy faces!

Hello..... My time is dwindling but my mission is still the best!

This week we had exchanges...... First on Tuesday we went to Mengo and I had a powerful day with Elder Mashego and Elder Bale........... They killed me though........ Wow.... Their area is huge and I felt it. hahaha. I slept good though.

ON wednesday we had an awesome DDm and I realized how awesome the book of mormon is! And just thought about when the Book of Mormon has really changed my life! Think of a scripture from the book of Mormon that has blessed your life and even changed it! There is a great power of Good from that book! We also had an awesome lesson with one of our investigators named Zion! We brought two members with us and it was jsut amazing how it all worked together and the spirit was so strong and you knew that she felt it! She is close to accepting baptism. She knows! Those lessons are the best!

Then on Thursday I had a very enjoyable day! I was on exchanges with my man Elder Chandler! He is also from Pocatello. SO you can guess what we talked about all day. hahaha. We had a really powerful day and Elder Chandler is a really good guy! Also had some Ethiopian food because Elder Chandler is also originally from ethiopia! SO that was awesome! On Friday we had a nice day and I realized that I had been away from home for 2 years! wow crazy to think...............

Saturday we had a great day as well. We had some nice lessons in the morning and we even set a baptism date with an investigator named. Doulha? not sure how to spell it.............. But it was amazing how she was the one that started even asking about baptism we didn't ask her........... The spirit is awesome! Then we had a meeting with the stake president and he is awesome and we are going to visit him and his family this week!  Super excited for that! Sunday we had a nice day...... Some investigators disappointed us and didn't come to church, but we had some powerful lessons and somehow we taught exactly what the people needed! It was cool to see how the spirit can work through two people! without problem!

Today we played some basketball and it was a ton of fun. My last time to play basketball in Uganda probably............. But I am excited for my last full week and I am going to try to make it the best one..... I am going to miss the Mission and I am also very excited to see you guys.............

God Lives and Jesus Christ is His son! They love us and want our eternal Happiness. Have a great week. Love you.

MOM QUESTIONS.....
1.It's almost here, time to come home.  How you feeling about that?

Yep time is flying and I hope I am just ready to be home when the time comes. I am not sure I will be!........... Actually I am sure I won't be.........

I am looking forward to the roads and right side and stuff like that and no boda's! Ya I am still not sure how I will feel next week, but I am sure that this week is going to be awesome!

2. Joseph Smith had the original plates from which the Book of Mormon was translate for 11 years.  Don't you think that would have been a long time to keep track of them and protect them?

I am not sure why.............. Maybe he didn't even have them that entire time, but I am sure he learned a lot from that tough experience and I have realized that the hardest thing about the mission is remembering what was actually hard..............

3. Is there something specific we can pray for ?  For you or the missionaries or someone else?

You can pray for missionaries to have an increase of Charity........

4.  What was something that happened this week that touched your soul?

Um this week.............. was just me and my companion teaching and just how the spirit was able to allow us to know exactly what to teach which was different from what we planned and how we were unified while we did it. Also how the spirit can bring forth a scripture or a story into your mind that is perfect for that specific person. It helps me know that the spirit is real and that we are not alone as we do this work!

WOW.....

The Crew

The Crew unplugged

Ok. Another week went by and here is what happened!

SO it started off with exchanges with E. Mufurati. He got to come to my area and it was awesome. We had a powerful day and I got to know E. Mufurati a lot better this week and he is a really powerful guy. He is going home with me in a couple of weeks, but he is determined to finish strong and serve the master even with some tough things happening back home! Also during the day we had some time to do finding in the evening and a member was like "Can I go with you?" So we were like ya and the finding turned into going and visiting his friends that he wanted us to teach! It was awesome! The best finding ever! Every door you go to lets you in! hahaha That was a tender mercy this week. The members name is William Deng! He is powerful! Then on Wednesday we had an awesome day. Especially because in the morning we called an investigator we had recently started teaching to set an appointment and he said he had good news for us! SO we got to the lesson and he proceeded to tell us of certain dreams he has been having for the past few years and how he prayed last night and he felt he received an answer and wanted to be baptized even as soon as this week! WOW! That was a dream come true! We were excited and Me and E. Khoriyo know that this guy named samuel is one of the elect! The lord does answer prayers!

Then on Thursday we had Zone conference, but the bad part was that E. Khoriyo was feeling pretty sick! SO we gave him a blessing and headed to Zone Conference! Zone Conference was amazing and full of the spirit! I am going to miss those things! Also when E. Khoriyo gave his training he was like he wasn't even sick! Then after Zone Conference he got really really weak........ SO the lord was able to strengthen him while he gave his training. ON friday we had to let E. Khoriyo rest in the morning and then in the afternoon we went out, but it was a bit of a slow day........

ON Saturday we had a great day. In the morning both me and E. Khoriyo both had a feeling that something was not right, so we prayed and the lord spoke peace to our hearts and we still are not sure why we were feeling that something was off, but everything seemed to work out well! Also had an awesome conversation with a Muslim about the Book of Mormon. It was probably one of my favorite conversations I have had with someone about the Book of Mormon, but for some reason I don't think they were Muslim......... ON Sunday we had an awesome day. Church was great and we had a ton of investigators at church  and our RC. Brought here 3 referral friends. It was awesome. Such a blessing and I feel like it is not us but mostly the member and the Lord doing the work for us! The Lord is blessing us right now!

This week something that I noticed as I finish up the Book of Mormon is how Moroni when he was alone and going through a tough time in his life. After watching his people be destroyed, running from people that want to kill him. He was able to write some of the most powerful chapters in the Book of Mormon and add some great information to the scriptures! In a great trial he received some of the greatest inspiration and knowledge he probably ever had. It reminds me of Joseph Smith when he was in Liberty Jail and he received some great revelation from that about the Temple. So in our times of difficulty and trial is when we have the most to learn and even revelation to receive. SO trials are a good thing! Keep up the faith! Have a great week. Love you.

Mom questions..
1.  Favorite moment of the week for me is when I see your younger sisters loving and supporting each other.  What was yours?

My favorite moment this week was when we got a call from an investigator and he said he had good news for us and when we went to the lesson he told us he had received and answer and wanted to be baptized and even could be baptized this week! That was cool!

2.  I did something I didn't think I could do this week.  Any physical or spiritual feats that you have accomplished that you didn't think you could do on your mission?

Ummmm........ Physical........... Not sure. Spiritual..... I gave a lesson with 1 second of preparation and the lesson turned out really well. So I thought that was a blessing!

3.   I'm sure you have mixed emotions about completing your mission, what is helping you to keep working hard but also looking for to the next adventure/phase of your life?

I just try to pray really hard and understand why I am here and that gives me pretty good motivation to finish strong. Also talking to president whenever I get the chance! He is great!

4.  We now have two ukuleles at home...... the girls are getting pretty good on them.  Are you up to the challenge of learning?

Ya I am down and I will learn it real fast!

Hello Another week has gone by and the end is drawing closer and I don't know how to feel right now....... But it was a great week so we will quickly review what happened.

SO it started off strong with Tuesday.... We had a great day! Everything was working out! IT started out in the morning we went out and taught Sis Debrah and prepared her for her baptism........ Then she took us to some of her friends and we had a great lesson with them! I love referrals...... Then in the afternoon we had a nice lesson with an investigator named Zion and she even gave us a referral and he seems really interested about the gospel! I love referrals............. Then we had a wonderful lesson with a new family in the evening! Then we taught another family to finish off the day and they brought more people for us to teach! The Lord truly provided for us that day and it was amazing because we didn't do anything! But the Lord just blessed us and even the next day on Wednesday we didn't have much time in our area because we needed to go and help another companionship in the zone and so we didn't have any time in our area! SO the lord will help us and give us what we need as we help others. Pretty cool. Thursday was another busy day with Baptism interviews throughout the zone..............

Friday was just a wonderful day! We had our baptisms and the other missionaries in the district in Nsambya ward also had 2 baptism's! SO the Lord Blessed us with some baptism's in the Ward, so we celebrated by going to KFC! KFC is a big deal here in Uganda. hahaha. It was sister Debrah(from South Sudan) and sister Patricia(who works at a restaurant and always gives us great deals. ahhaha.  We also received another referral from a member in the evening! I love referrals!

ON Saturday we had a nice day and finished it off with FHE with the South Sudan family. They are awesome! Also my district here in Nsambya is the best. I haven't laughed so much in my entire mission. They are some of the funniest guys ever! ON Sunday we had a great day as well. Church was amazing. Testimonies were great and pure! We also went with a member to meet some more referrals.... I love referrals! Then we went with like 4 RM's and one prospective missionary and visited a family and had a small meeting type thing with them. It was cool to see how just visiting a family who has been missing for awhile from church can bring the spirit of love to that family. It was awesome to see and I was grateful for wonderful members here in Nsambya!

Today as a zone we had a zone activity and we cooked a ton of Pork, rice, and posho, and even had dessert! It was a lot of fun and we have some awesome missionaries in the zone! The week was good and we have another busy week this week with exchanges and also zone conference, so we will be back here at the computer soon. hahaha.

This week I learned about Jesus Christ and how he taught the people when he was in the Ancient America. The things that those people saw and heard from Jesus Christ were amazing! All it took was a little bit of faith! Also have been reading about the Prophet Joseph Smith! He was an amazing man! I know he was a prophet of God and that through him the church was restored! And the greatest evidence of that is the Book of Mormon! Read it! Have a great week. Love you.

Love Elder Beck

NOTE FROM MOM....   I think he likes referrals, don't you?!  He only has 24 days left, your prayers are working. Please continue to pray for him and the people he serves.  Thank you so much!  This has been quite an adventure.

-He will be flying home and arriving on September 29th 3 pm at Idaho Falls airport.
-His homecoming report will be on October 15th at 9 am.  All are welcome!

Mom questions..
1.  Do we need to help you figure out where you're going to live and such in Logan? Or do you have an idea? Teigan was thinking that you might need to sign up for some classes soon but, we can probably be deal with that when you get back.

I am enjoying with E. Khoriyo and the district and zone... it is fun!  SO things are good. Just starting to feel it about going home......... It is coming and I am not sure what to think or feel........

Ya I need to figure that out and I am going to talk to some of the missionaries here and see what they are doing as well.......... But we need to start looking at that.

2.  What do most of the people in your area do for work? Or does it vary?

Here it varies......... Some sell souvenirs, others have chapti stands, others have their own business. It varies quite a bit here in Kampala. Many different things going on here.

3.   As always… Looking for an experience this week that touched your heart this week. Anything come to mind?

Well this week we had a lot to do for other area's and going to do different things, but with the time that we had in our area we were able to get a lot done and the Lord was able to help us find those that are prepared and reach our goals that we have set and it was nothing that we were doing, but it was all the Lord helping us and providing for us so we could assist others in the zone! That was a great experience and The Lord takes care of His Boys!

4.  What is something that we could all be better at that would influence our lives for good and others?  Something that would turn our hearts towards God?

That is something hard to answer, but what I have seen is PRAYING WITH ALL YOUR HEART!!  ! I have been trying to pray and really focus on the spirit and even the people that I pray for and it really changes everything! It brings the spirit a lot more and you are focused. Pray with all your heart. never get lazy with prayers......

5.  How are the bugs and mosquito nets these days? Have they become your friends? Do you get bitten a lot?

Bugs are not really a problem.......... Mosquito nets are good, they work.......... Don't get bit too much and no bed bugs. SO The bugs are good!
